Hidden One Name Study
Welcome to the home page for the HIDDEN One-Name Study
The surname HIDDEN is unusual and the study is interested in discovering more about its distribution and the ways in which family groups interlink with a line of descent which is already traced back to the fifteenth century.
The HIDDEN One-Name Study is registered with the Guild of One-Name Studies (GOONS)
The HIDDEN archive is a database containing over 12,000 records relating
mainly to HIDDENs but also including some
references to similar surnames like HEADEN, HEADING, HEDDEN and HIDDON
(these are not covered as fully as for HIDDEN)
The sources used include civil registration, parish registers, probate records,
census returns, street directories, manorial documents, leases, Chancery depositions
and many others published and unpublished.
The Archive page contains links to some of the information in the database
and further links will be added as time goes on.
The HIDDEN Family Groups page provides access to charts and pedigrees which
provide detailed information about some of the major groups of Hiddens and their
descendants from 1548 A.D. onwards
